Prison Break at New Bailey: A Summer Success for Untold History
This Summer, Untold History hosted Prison Break at New Bailey.
Held on Saturday, 31st August, the immersive history challenge transported participants back to the peak of the Industrial Revolution, where they experienced the fascinating and often dark history of New Bailey, once the largest prison in England.
The event, a collaboration between Untold History and Live History Shows, brought the rich and sometimes chilling past of New Bailey to life. Visitors were immersed in a theatrical experience, interacting with historical characters—from escapees trying to evade capture to guards in pursuit of prisoners, and even families visiting loved ones inside. These encounters, combined with missions, puzzles, and clues, made for an exciting and educational adventure that captivated both history enthusiasts and families alike.
One of the highlights of the event was the opportunity for attendees to explore New Bailey in a way that no traditional tour could offer. The interactive experience, combined with the pressure of completing challenges within the hour, created an atmosphere of tension and excitement.
The historical characters were brilliantly brought to life, adding an extra layer of intrigue to the event.
In addition to the immersive experience, attendees enjoyed a selection of street food from some of the finest local vendors at New Bailey, as well as exclusive offers from businesses throughout the estate.
The event was a perfect blend of history, adventure, and community spirit.
