ABQ

The Activation

We worked with Peel Holdings to manage and re-brand a space within MediaCityUK called CARGO.
 
CARGO, formerly known as the Splat, was launched as a multi-use pop-up event space, and we worked with one of our long term experiential contacts Lollipopup, who were launching ABQ nationwide, to bring a one-of-a-kind event, to Salford in the wake of the Breaking Bad hype back in 2017.

We worked together to launch ABQ Manchester, an immersive Breaking Bad-inspired cocktail experience. Guests were invited to don hazmat suits just like Walter White, and step inside a decked-out American RV with lab-like cocktail making equipment, to learn how to “cook” your own cocktails.

ABQ launched in April 2018, and ran until September.

The RV accommodated 28-30 people at a time, each session lasted 2 hours and during that tie, customers ‘cook’ and enjoy 2 cocktails. They also receive a welcome cocktail.

The concept had a waiting list of 65,000 people before launch with a reach to 2million on social media, and was supported by the likes of Time Out and other publications.

Roles & Responsibilities:

Solid Ground – arranged relationship with Lollipopup and Peel Holdings, liaised on
operations, licencing, H&S, logistics, permissions for use of the space, agreements for use
of the space, liaison with facilities and management team, marketing / PR throughout the
activation.
 
Lollipopup – provided delivery of all infrastructure , operational delivery and management (RV, cocktails, management, staff, day to day, brand specific marketing)
